On 27-28 April 2023, the 37th edition of the traditional steel conference on the theory and practice of steel production and processing OCELÁŘI 2023 took place.
The conference was held in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm at the Horal Hotel and was opened by the conference guarantor prof. Ing. Markéta Tkadlečková, Ph.D., who at the same time dedicated a memorial to the recently deceased Ing. Jaroslav Březina. On behalf of the Moravian-Silesian Region came Ing. Jakub Unucka, Ph.D., MBA with an interesting lecture "Will we be a steel region after the end of coal mining?" This was followed by a speech by the Vice-Dean for Cooperation with Industry of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology of VŠB-TUO, prof. Ing. Jozef Vlček, Ph.D. The block of invited lectures ended with Mgr. Filip Hájek, who presented a paper on behalf of the Steelworkers' Union entitled "Decarbonisation of the steel industry: challenges and opportunities". Ing. Jaroslav Pindor, Ph.D. opened questions about the European Green Deal and the way forward in steel production. After lunch, a block of lectures based on the experience and research of individual companies and institutions already followed, starting with a lecture by Dr. Ing. Ladislav Valek in cooperation with Danieli "Selected information on the planned replacement of Tandem furnaces with new Hybrid furnaces in Liberty Ostrava a.s. The Thursday evening was traditionally concluded with a social evening held in the hotel restaurant.
The conference registered 94 participants from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Sweden. The conference programme was enriched by 24 interesting lectures.
