Abstract

Nanoparticles of thermochromic complex pigment bis- (diethylammonium) tetrachloridocuprate (II) with chemical formula [NH2(C2H5)2]2CuCl4 (abbreviated DEA-CuCl4) was prepared by crystallization and subsequent grinding in a cryo-mill. Nanoparticles were incorporated into a flexible hydro insulating transparent silicone matrix. The surface properties, especially surface hydrophobicity and elasticity of the resulting composite, as well as color indication of thermal changes and resistance to mold were tested.
