The specific heat capacity of substances is one of the determining thermal technical properties of technical materials such as steels influencing their heating or cooling. Knowledge of their values is necessary for accurate calculations of processes such as solidification during casting in the form of continuously cast billets or ingots and during heating before forming processes or during heat treatment of finished products. The paper deals with several computational possibilities of determining the specific heat capacity of steels depending on the composition and temperature.
