The increasingly returning subject of the financial crisis forces company owners to continuously monitor their results, not only in terms of safety at work, but also reliability of equipment. The purpose of the presented article is to identify actions necessary to maintain a reliable machinery stock, which would guarantee effectiveness of production processes and high quality of metal workpieces. The analysis referred to a project of modernization of deprecated machinery stock in an industrial establishment belonging to the foundry industry.
